📢 Turbo, Antioquia Achieves Its First Master Vessel Berthing in History ⚓
Today, February 9, 2026, the first berthing maneuver in the history of Turbo, Antioquia, was successfully carried out at Puerto Bahía Colombia de Urabá. This milestone marks a significant step forward in port development and maritime connectivity for the Urabá region.
This achievement follows a relevant precedent for the territory. On November 8, 2025, the Urabá and Darién jurisdiction received, for the first time, the arrival of a master vessel, the CMA CGM FORT BOURBON, which performed an anchoring maneuver. Today’s operation represents a higher operational level, as it involved a berthing maneuver, which is technically more complex, and was executed at a port that is formally beginning its operations.
During the day, the master vessel CMA CGM FIORDLAND arrived and berthed at the PBCU terminal. It is a next-generation container ship, built in 2024, measuring approximately 255 meters in length, 40 meters in beam, and with a gross tonnage of over 57,000 tons. The vessel sails under the Liberian flag and is operated by CMA CGM, one of the world’s leading maritime transport companies.
The maneuver was carried out by pilots from Prácticos y Marítima PRACYMAR, under the command of Captain Luis Hernando Martínez as lead pilot and Javier Antonio Moreno Cortés as second pilot. The operation was performed with the highest standards of safety, precision, and coordination, reaffirming the company’s technical expertise in high-demand port maneuvers.
This first master vessel berthing consolidates Turbo and the Urabá region as a new strategic hub for maritime trade, opening new prospects for the country’s logistical, economic, and port development. 🚢🌍
